The rku.it wants to ensure that the daily copy to a dedicated S3 storage pool with lock functionality ensures extended protection against ransomware attacks.
It is important to ensure that:
- The S3 storage must cover the entire disk pool storage volume as described in 2
- The transfer of the change volume from the disk pool to the S3 storage should take place after the respective backup is completed. A time window of 10 hours must not be exceeded. This must be taken into account by the provider when dimensioning the solution
- The solution is supposed to delete the oldest backup data - triggered by Veeam - after 90 days
A primary backup stock of 5 PiB must be assumed, so the system must be equipped with at least 5 PiB. The change volume is 20 TiB per day and is already included in the 5 PiB design.
Technical framework parameters
All systems must be mountable in 19" racks; the racks are provided by rku.it; for this purpose, the provider has the necessary information. Specify the number of height units and rack depths.
In the offer, the provider must specify the type and characteristics of electricity connections to be provided by rku.it.
The network connections are to be designed by fiber optics. The provider is free to use 10, 25 or 40 Gbit transmission speeds.
The rku.it data center is operated with a cold air supply of up to 30°C. There is a cold aisle containment. There is no possibility of water cooling.
The vendor must ensure that the usable capacity specified in the price sheet can be occupied by Veeam Version 11.
Resiliency and redundancies
The provider must ensure that the entire solution is designed to be fully redundant (a failure of a sub-component must not lead to the failure of the entire solution), in particular:
- Netzwerkanschlüsse
- Power supply
-Fan
The solution shall be designed in such a way that it remains fully functional even in the event of simultaneous failure of at least 2 arbitrary hard disks; any resulting reductions in the speed of the system must not jeopardize the time windows for data transmission specified in 3. The solution has at least two hot spares.
The replacement of a defective component as well as firmware updates must be feasible during operation and must not jeopardize the time windows for data transmission specified under 3 or lead to system failure.
Systemüberwachung
The offered solution must be technically integrated into the existing monitoring system based on Microsoft SCOM. This is to be carried out by the provider in the course of the implementation phase.
Support and maintenance
The solution offered must be offered including a 48-month maintenance and support contract:
- Service level 24x7x4 (remote service is available if possible, on-site at the rku.it's data center if necessary)
- Minor and major updates for firmware and admin tools are to be included
