The DWD operates full-time weather stations on the ground of type Wst II (weather stations) and Fww (flight weather stations). The fully automatic weather stations are located on state-owned or rented properties and are currently equipped with an automatic AMDA I/II meteorological data acquisition system. The systems currently in use consist of a central 19" control cabinet and corresponding junction boxes to which the sensors are connected. Each junction box is connected to the 19" control cabinet by means of a transmission medium.

The DWD wants to replace the data acquisition systems used on the 182 full-time measuring fields and connect the sensors with TCP/IP in the future. For this purpose, new network underground cables are laid. In some cases, however, existing telecommunications cables must be used instead and the transmission in this case should be carried out by an SFP VDSL2 modem pair (master and slave).

These DSL modems are the subject of this invitation to tender.

For the delivery of the DSL modems, the conclusion of a framework agreement with a term of four years (2023 to 2026) with extension options is planned.

The minimum purchase quantity (purchase obligation) for the term of the contract is a total of 300 modem pairs (master + slave). The following quantities are assumed: Year 2023: 20 pairs; Year 2024:110 pair; Year 2025: 85 pairs; Year 2026: 85 pairs.

The estimated purchase quantity (no purchase obligation) over the term of the contract is 600 pairs and the maximum purchase quantity (no purchase obligation) is 850 pairs. The planned quantity structure can be found in the procurement documents.
