For passive, aerodynamic stabilization of various rocket stages and vehicles configured from them (in particular S30 as well as the Red Kite and Black Brant stages currently being introduced), the department has developed a tail unit and qualified it for flight. Numerous missions, including those from the MAPHEUS, MASER and TEXUS programmes, have been equipped with these tail units. The subject of the tender is the production of 100 units of these tail units. The tail units are designed in differential design. A substructure (frame) milled from solid is glued and screwed to load-bearing cover sheets. The free-milled fields of the frame are filled with aluminum honeycomb structures. In order to enable extended flight times in hypersonics, the leading edge is made of phenolic resin-reinforced fibre fabric.
