The consumer sentiment index is used to monitor the economy and is based on a survey of randomly selected private individuals. So far, the survey has been conducted four times a year mainly by telephone. The aim is to switch to a survey via the Internet, which takes place continuously. In the basic order, the contractor will carry out the survey of consumer sentiment in 2023 in parallel, both by telephone in accordance with the previous procedure and online in accordance with the new procedure. The telephone survey is carried out quarterly (approx. 900 to 1000 interviews per quarter). The online survey is carried out continuously (approx. 400 to 500 interviews per week). Option 1 provides for the extension of the online survey for a further four years, until the end of 2027.
