The General Practice Forward View published in April 2016 set out plans to enable clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) to commission and fund additional capacity across England to ensure that, by 2020 everyone has improved access to GP services including sufficient routine appointments at evenings and weekends to meet locally determined demand, alongside effective access to out of hours and urgent care services.
NHS Doncaster is to commission additional access to high quality General Practice type services in a different way to what is already available rather than just create more capacity or demand for the same. This sits alongside, but does not replace, work looking at access to “core” General Practice services in-hours.
Doncaster CCG is looking to award a single contract for the provision of Extended Access to General Practice across Doncaster.
