The research and training mine is currently being developed via the two day openings Schacht Alte Elisabeth and Schacht Reiche Zeche. The tonnage shaft Alte Elisabeth acts as a retracting betting opening and can be used for material and (limited) passenger transport. The transport of people and materials for the visitor mine and the research and training mine is carried out via the Reiche Zeche shaft. At the same time, the daylight opening is used as a waste air shaft. In the future, the development of the 3rd level for the removal and preparation of the planned new drivages as well as any rehabilitation measures at the level of the Rothschönberger Stolln is also planned via the shaft. The day openings used are maintained by the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, which also carries out the necessary maintenance and reconstruction measures.

The new ventilation system must be designed in such a way that, in addition to supplying the underground workings at the level of the tunnel floor and the level of the 1st level as well as the visitor mine there, a sufficient ventilation supply for the planned drivages at the level of the 3rd level is ensured in the future.

For the 3rd level, a diesel output of approx. 200 kW and an occupancy of a maximum of 50 employees is planned. As a result of the evaluation, an additional daytime opening is required for the targeted fresh air supply of the drivages at the level of the 3rd level.

Planning Lph 4-8 is based on existing design planning.
