Moulton College was established in 1921 and prides itself on delivering a wide range of outstanding educational courses from pre-entry level right through to degrees and postgraduate degrees. Moulton College campus is located on the edge of the village of Moulton which is approximately 5 miles north of Northampton town centre. Moulton College campus is spread across three sites, namely Main Site, the Pitsford Centre and the Holcot Centre. All sites are connected by a footpath and are only a few minutes' walk from one another. There is also a dedicated minibus shuttle service which transports students and staff between sites.
This project will provide new accommodation for 152 students, expanding the current provision of on-campus accommodation allowing more enrolled students to stay on site.
The project will consist of six new accommodation blocks built on a sloping greenfield site owned by the College and located on the Holcot Site. Each accommodation block will have around 26- 28 rooms accommodating students and, in some cases, wardens also. The blocks will be of similar design, be two storey with pitched roofs, and have a single central staircase and lift connected to clusters of rooms. Each room cluster will have a kitchen and dining area. The bedrooms will be en-suite. The gross internal floor area of the project is approximately 4,015 m². The project will also include for hard landscaping and a provision of car parking spaces.
The contractor will be required to complete the design and detailing of the works. The architectural proposals will be completed to RIBA Stage D and planning permission will be obtained by the Client during the tender process.
A Design Brief will be provided to explain the architectural and engineering requirements.
