The district heating system for Borlänge Energi and Falu Energi & Vatten is connected to an approximately 17 km long DN350 district heating pipeline between the cities. Now the district heating networks will strengthen from the common line to central parts of the cities' district heating systems to enable more efficient energy production in each city.

This procurement relates to the expansion in Falun and the total distance amounts to approximately 3,200 meters. The wires will cross major roads, including the roads. E16 and Route 293. The wires will be laid near the railway on part of the route. Parts of the land-laid stretch pass polluted and archaeological sites. Please note that the industrial history landscape around Stora Kopparberget and Falun is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In parallel with this prequalification, a prequalification is also underway for the expansion in Borlänge.

In parallel with this prequalification, a prequalification is also underway for the expansion in Borlänge and a prerequisite for creating the desired economic and environmental benefits is that both companies expand their district heating networks. This means that the two companies, according to their respective decision-making and delegation arrangements, must approve the respective contract amounts and give the go-ahead for the projects to begin. In the unlikely event that it is not approved by either party, the two procurements will be suspended.
