Be responsible for running the health monitoring programme for deer and musk-ox in accordance with the specifications, including:
— Obtain data on the health status through self initiated, systematic collections and examinations.
— Identify changes in populations resulting from diseases.
— Uncover ‘new’ disease conditions in primary deer and musk-ox.
— Monitor infectious diseases that can be transferred between domestic animals and game.
— Map the extent of infectious diseases in game that can be transferred to hunters and other nature users.
— Uncover health conditions that require management initiatives.
— Monitor animal welfare aspects connected to disease, euthanasia, hunting and capture of game.
— Contribute to putting health data in an organic context, also on a population level.
— Use the collected material to assess the effects of factors that can influence the health of game, for example, climate, vegetation changes, introduction of infectious substances or management initiatives.
