The Eye Department requires a new laser for use in retinal photo-coagulation, primarily for focal and grid treatment of macular oedema, as well as scatter and pan-retinal photocoagulation of neovascular retinopathy. In addition, the laser could be used for the department's eye help function for treatment of retinal tears including powered indirect ophthalmoscope and gonioscopic laser treatment of trabecular meshwork (ALT).
