Role of Water Used in the Growing, Handling and Processing of Fruits, Vegetables and Herbs on the Spread of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)

The overall objective of the direct contract resulting from this procurement procedure is to gain insights on the occurrence/variety of antimicrobial resistant bacteria and resistance determinants both of reclaimed and reused processing water used during the preharvest and post-harvest handling and processing operations for fruits, vegetables and herbs, as well as of the food products themselves, in order to help to assess the role of this water in the spread of antimicrobial resistant bacteria and antimicrobial resistant genes to fruits, vegetables and herbs in different European regions.
