County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, its Strategic Partners and Tees, Esk & Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust have a requirement for a Waste Management Service which covers the recycling, recovery and disposal of all non-hazardous general waste produced by the two Trusts.
A high priority is placed on the need to segregate and recycle as much waste as possible and to reduce the carbon emissions associated with the waste and its disposal. Consideration will only be given to companies who can offer alternatives to landfill as the final disposal option.
The major components of the waste stream are cardboard, plastic, paper, glass, packaging, food waste and other items consistent with general waste.
A highly reliable, efficient and cost-effective service is required which meets the needs of the numerous sites which range from acute hospitals to small community clinics. Theses sites are located throughout County Durham, Teeside and North Yorkshire.
This requirement does not include the provision for healthcare waste or clinical waste.
This opportunity is advertised in two Lots:
Lot 1 - General Waste & Recycling Service for County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.
Lot 2 - General Waste & Recycling Service for Tees, Esk & Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust.
Companies with relevant experience and expertise are invited to tender for Lot 1, Lot 2 or both Lots.
The contract award is for 4 Years (48 months) with an option to extend for a further 12 months.
