North Bristol NHS Trust provides hospital & community healthcare to the residents of Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset, together with a range of regional services. Bristol Genetics Laboratory (BGL) includes Cytogenetics & Molecular Genetics disciplines, delivers a wide range of genetic analysis services to the UK and internationally, for a wide variety of inherited & acquired genetic disorders. BGL is part of the UK National Genetics Network (UKGTN) & is a partner organisation within the West of England NHS Genomic Medicine Centre (WEGMC) involved in delivering the 100,000 Genome project. As part of an integrated Pathology service, the BGL works in close collaboration with colleagues in other Pathology disciplines, including PHE’s South West laboratory service. BGL requires a fragment analyser to provide a fragment analysis service (capacity of 14400 samples p/a) and an urgent prenatal aneuploidy screening service using QF-PCR (capacity 4000 samples/year).
