Since 2002, the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) has been a legally dependent division of the "Kulturveranstaltungen des Bundes in Berlin GmbH", a non-profit association that also includes the Berliner Festspiele and the Berlin International Film Festival. On the basis of a resolution of the German Bundestag, it is mainly financed by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media and funded by the Federal Foreign Office on a project-by-project basis. For more information, see www.kbb.eu.
HKW is a place for the international contemporary arts and a forum for current developments and discourses. In the capital Berlin, it presents artistic productions from all over the world with a special focus on non-European cultures and societies. Visual arts, music, literature, performing arts, film, scientific discourses and digital media will be combined to form an interdisciplinary programme that is unique in Europe.
Framework contracts spread over three lots are to be awarded, through which in particular the conception and creation of the graphic appearances, the further brand-building measures and campaign ideas for the Haus der Kulturen der Welt, including the graphic design of the festival media, especially in the print sector, can be called up by individual orders based on a new corporate design that has existed since 2012, which will be retained:

The fundamental redevelopment of HKW's websites is intended to mark the change of artistic director and to herald and visually underline a new period in the history of the institution. Likewise, with a strong focus on openness, diversity, internationality and interdisciplinarity, as well as a strong local anchoring, the content should be translated into a strong visual appearance and transport these values and content. The overall perception of the brand should be ensured as well as the strengthening of the individual identity of the exhibitions, festivals and discourse events. Addressing the various genres in a target-group-oriented manner is an essential criterion.
