The collection and processing of dry recyclables is currently undertaken under contract. For the purpose of this tender it should be assumed that dry recyclable material will be collected from Wellingborough Norse at Trafalgar House, 30 Sanders Park, Sanders Road, Wellingborough NN8 4FR. The requirement is to recycle materials so as to maximize the Council's recycling credits.

Co-mingled recyclables include:

— paper, cardboard;

— newspapers, magazines etc.;

— shredded paper;

— card and junk mail;

— container glass (bottles, jars etc.);

— plastic bottles;

— mixed plastics including yoghurt pots, food trays etc.;

— cans and tins;

— steel and aluminium food tins;

— jar lids;

— aerosol cans;

— aluminium foil;

— ‘TetraPak' containers;

— plastic bags.

Volumes of Material:

The volume of materials sent for treatment over the last 2 years is shown below:

2011/12 7080 tonnes;

2012/13 7037 tonnes.

These figures are for guidance only as future tonnages may vary. Major house building schemes in the Borough are being planned.

Green waste is not included in this tender.

Waste collections in Wellingborough are undertaken by the Council's waste collection partner, Wellingborough Norse, operating a Tuesday to Friday collection service. Co-mingled waste is collected alternate weekly, alternating with the black bin general waste collection.
