According to the Handbook of Technical Water Monitoring, a defined number of groundwater and surface water measuring points must be tested for residues of pesticide active ingredients and metabolites every year. The investigations serve both to meet legal monitoring requirements and for long-term environmental monitoring. The service is divided into two lots, Lot 1: "Group PSM-A" and Lot 2: "Group PSM-B".
