The facility was built in 1979 as a type C betting facility. In accordance with the standards of the time, the facility has a large playing field made of natural grass and a four-lane running track with tender

The construction of the sports facility took into account an expansion possibility by 2 circular tracks, which, however, are still only developed in turf. A circumferential barrier separates the actual sports facility from the approx. 2.00 m wide path with water-bound path surface, which extends to the club building in the northwest and separates the three standing grandstands with a total of approx. 1,500 standing places from the facility in the west and northeast. In the east there is a separate
fenced shot put system and two storage containers.
The sports facility is surrounded by a 2.00 m high bar fence. Numerous gates allow good accessibility from all directions. The stadium has
no floodlights. To the northwest and south of the stadium are paved parking lots as well as other parking facilities with water-bound pavements in the southwest. A total of about 200 parking spaces are available for the sports complex.
The stadium is located in the eastern part of the main town of Bornheim. In the north it borders on the "Ernst-Jandl-Schule", separated only by an access road. Behind it is a
Tennis park, located in the northwest the addiction treatment center "Die Torburg" with a large park. To the east, the stadium borders on the site of the "Europaschule", interrupted only by the Alfterer-Bornheimer Bach, which is bridged here. To the west is the Johann-Wallraf-Grundschule on the opposite side of Wallrafstraße. In the south, Secundastraße with individual residential buildings separates the stadium from the indoor and leisure pool
