An increasing number of patients, such as diabetics or those who are required to inject blood thinners during the post-operative period, are able to self-medicate without the need for a healthcare practitioner to administer injections. Primary and secondary care providers; NHS Doncaster Clinical Commissioning Group; and Doncaster Council each have statutory duties to ensure the health, safety and well-being of Doncaster residents and self-medicating patients by enabling these individuals to safely manage their condition(s) at home.

The service provider is required to provide timely and cost effective sharps bin delivery, collection and disposal services from nominated patient homes in full compliance with all applicable health and safety, waste and transport legislation.
