The subject of the call is a high-performance computer system (HPC system), which is to be used by scientists from universities and colleges active throughout Germany within the framework of the National High Performance Computing (NHR).
The HPC system, centrally administered by the Paderborn Center for Parallel Computing (PC2) research facility of the University of Paderborn, is required for demanding tasks in the computational sciences and is used, among other things, in the focal points "Simulation of natural and engineering questions", "Methodological development of parallel simulation codes" and "Computer system research for energy-efficient high-performance computing".
The HPC system consists of a CPU partition, a GPU partition, a parallel storage system, and a powerful interconnect.
A special feature is the computer cooling by means of mainly (well over 80% of the waste heat) direct hot water cooling (at least 34 degrees Celsius in the flow, at least 8 Kelvin spread).
The HPC system must be provided with a multi-year service, partly on-site.
