In 2016 the Ministry of Finance transferred its public tasks relating to euro coins to DNB. These tasks involve putting new euro coins into circulation, removing excess euro coins, and protecting euro coins from counterfeiting. From 2020 onwards, DNB orders the production of euro coins on behalf of the Dutch State, represented by the Ministry of Finance.
The reason for this tender is the expiry of the current framework agreement for delivery of Circulation Coins.
The supplier must be able to supply Circulation Coins in six denominations, i.e. €1 and €2 coins, and 5, 10, 20 and 50 cent coins. Since 1 and 2 cent coins are not used in circulation in the Netherlands, these will not be ordered. In principle once per year DNB will order the required volume of Circulation Coins from the Contractor. Not all denominations will be ordered every year.
