In concrete terms, this concerns executive, standard services intended for cloud implementation, migration and management. Execution takes place on the basis of a fixed price and a fixed delivery date. See also the document "Announcement DAS SURFcumulus professional services".
According to SURF and its members, the future of ICT and associated services for education and research lies largely in the cloud. The members (institutions) therefore want to be able to make flexible use of the cloud and to combine it with their own ICT infrastructures (hybrid infrastructure).
In practice, the transition to the cloud is not an easy step and for many institutions, little experience has been gained. This can lead to unexpected challenges during the execution of cloud projects as well as in the management phase afterwards. The initially intended benefits will then not be achieved, which may lead to a risk of damage or destruction of capital.
To support institutions in these challenges, it is therefore desirable to make SURFcumulus professional services available to them via a SURF tender. SURF chooses to do this via a DAS. The delivery of SURFcumulus professional services is explicitly linked to the SURFcumulus service.
In concrete terms, this concerns executive, standard services intended for cloud implementation, migration and management. Execution takes place on the basis of a fixed price and a fixed delivery date.
A further description of the service components is as follows: setting up a cloud landing zone, integrated in the existing (hybrid) architecture of an institution, at least comprising: account setup: based on the administrative organization, compliance guidelines, existing environments and structures of the institution. Network configuration: according to guidelines, within cloud environments and between on-premise and these cloud environments. Security baseline: identity and access management based on SURFconext, availability of standardized, hardened machine images, security policies, network monitoring and log analytics. Automation: standardized structure of security, governance, and cost optimization, possibly using the SURFcumulus Cloud Management Platform. Implementing / supporting cloud migrations, by means of: lift-and-shift migration scenario: moving (partly) an ICT infrastructure from a data center to the cloud without major changes. Re-design migration scenario: making (part of) an existing ICT infrastructure cloud-ready and / or implementing replacement, new-build solutions so that the potential of the cloud can be optimally utilized. Providing cloud managed services in the (hybrid) cloud infrastructure, including: operations (account management, software update management, license management, network management, backup & restore, monitoring, platform management), application management (technical application management, functional application management, data management, application configuration management), service support (incident, problem & change management, multi vendor coordination, second and third line support, escalation handling), service delivery (service level management, capacity, cost and continuity management), information security and privacy protection (detection, prevention, reporting, adjustment).
