The municipality is responsible for waste management for about 6000 customers and 10,900 inhabitants live in the municipality. The distribution of customers is about 4000 single-family properties, 1000 apartments in apartment buildings, about 900 holiday homes and 150 businesses.

This procurement includes the loading, transport and treatment of food and residual waste under municipal responsibility from homes and businesses in the municipality. The food waste is left by households in paper bags such as Svenco. Treatment of food waste must be done in such a way that the product becomes biogas and biofertilizer. Residual waste must be treated through energy recovery.
The municipality rents part of LBC Svenljunga-Tranemo's warehouse on Kyrkogatan in Svenljunga where the transshipment of food and residual waste takes place. During transshipment, recycled materials collected by the 4-compartment trucks are also stored in intermediate storage while waiting to be picked up by the producers. The assignment also includes the contractor operating the transshipment site, which includes pushing together recycling materials into stacks, ensuring that the plant is kept in a good condition, loading of recycled paper and packaging. Transport and treatment of latrines in latrine vessels are also included in the assignment.
In 2021, the municipality collected 510 tons of food waste, 1300 tons of residual waste, 120 tons of recycled paper and 440 tons of packaging.
The customer intends to sign an agreement with a contractor after the procurement.
The agreement covers the period 2023-02-01 up to and including 2025-10-31 with the possibility for the customer to extend until at most 2027-01-31.
The customer has and will have a frequent need for the services procured herein. The customer does not issue any volume guarantees for the term of the contract as a whole or part thereof.
At the current date, only recycled materials from property-related collection in Svenljunga municipality are handled in the transshipment hall. As the municipalities take over the collection responsibility for packaging by 2024, packaging from recycling stations will also be handled during transshipment. There are also discussions with nearby municipalities to collaborate on the transshipment hall, which means that the amount of packaging waste and recycled paper handled will increase sharply. The amount of packaging waste and recycled paper handled at the transshipment plant could then rise from 560 tonnes of material to about 2000 tonnes per year.
The agreement is estimated to have a value of SEK 1,500-2,000 thousand per year.
