The subject of this procedure is the award of a framework contract for catering services in the VIP area for visitors to the events taking place in the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA in Düsseldorf. The gastronomic services only include the VIP area at major events and corporate events in the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA. VIP catering at football matches of Fortuna Düsseldorf (Düsseldorfer Turn- und Sportverein Fortuna 1895 e. V.) is not covered by this contract.
Stadiums, concert halls, meeting rooms: there are many venues for events, but there is only one MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA. An arena with unlimited possibilities and one of the most modern stadiums in Europe. The arena was opened in January 2005. It is operated by D.LIVE GmbH & CO. KG. The MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA is characterized by its multifunctionality. With a closable and opaque roof, whose two roof elements can be closed and reopened within just 30 minutes. The MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA is the only stadium in Europe to have a state-of-the-art heating system. This allows events to be held all year round and regardless of the weather. The anchor tenant is the football club Fortuna Düsseldorf, which plays in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2021/2022 season and plays all its home games in the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA. In addition, other show, sports and music events regularly take place in the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA. In the past, these included DFB international football matches, Klitschko boxing matches, Race of Champions car races, American football games, AIDA Opera, Sensation White (dance event), concerts by Madonna, Rolling Stones, Genesis, Udo Lindenberg, Die Toten Hosen, Herbert Grönemeyer, Coldplay, Depeche Mode, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, and many more.
With its own public transport and motorway connections, proximity to Düsseldorf Airport and 18,000 parking spaces as well as the integrated Tulip Inn Hotel, the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA has an infrastructure that is unique in Germany. The arena also offers over 20 meeting rooms from 39 m² to 252 m², the MERKUR BUSINESS CLUB with up to 2,200 m², the interior with an action area of up to 10,200 m² and can accommodate up to 66,500 visitors. The MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA has a capacity of 51,500 visitors (seats only) or 54,500 visitors (standing room only) for football matches, a capacity of 22,000 to 38,000 visitors (transverse stage), 40,000 to 50,000 visitors (head stage) and 66,500 visitors (center stage) for concerts.
Brief description of the services to be provided: The subject of this award procedure is a framework agreement for catering services in the VIP area for visitors to the events taking place in the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA in Düsseldorf and the management of corporate events, which take place primarily in the business areas of the MERKUR SPIEL ARENA.
In addition, the company restaurant is to be run in the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA, where lunch is offered every working day.
Approximate scope of services (number of events, average public audience)
+ 3 - 8 events of the theme concerts / shows / other sporting events with up to approx. 2,250 guests in the VIP areas.
+ Events in the corporate sector
+ Run company restaurant for up to 50-100 people per day
The kitchen for the VIP catering must be handed over to the restaurateur of the F95 for match days of the F95. The costs for inventory etc. shall be borne by the contractor. It should be noted that there is no storage facility for the VIP catering area.
The contract is to be awarded by 01.03.2023 at the latest. The contract has a basic term of a maximum of 3.5 years (until a maximum of 31.05.2026). The contract may be renewed twice by one year.
