Kleppestø Primary School which currently has a little more than 325 pupils, shall be expanded to a capacity of 600 pupils divided in 7 grades and an after school programme.

The expansion includes a new building/addition (area approx. 6 433 m2), demolition of sections of the existing building (area approx. 1 490 m2) and minor reconstruction of sections of the existing building (area approx. 1 331 m2). The construction works are planned implemented in 2 stages and the school shall be in use during the construction period.

The works shall be executed as general contracting.

The 1st construction stage includes a new building situated east of the existing school. The pupils will be moved to this building when it is ready.

The 2nd construction stage includes demolition of the 2 wings at the existing school. The wings were constructed in 1971 and 1978, respectively. The existing wing, constructed in 1997, shall be kept and an addition shall be constructed. The addition shall contain a volleyball court and a special purpose room. Construction stage 2 also includes construction of a roof over and a built-in area (the vestibule) between the new building and the building constructed in 1997.

The contracting authority has applied for a general permission based on the current zoning plan of the area. This application is now being revised. The new zoning plan may be approved during the construction period and may result in altered driving patterns.
