Passenger transport in vehicles with up to 8 passengers as part of a ridepooling offer.

The Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe (LVB) is carrying out the pilot operation of a so-called ridepooling offer in the city of Leipzig. Here, minibuses (cars with a maximum of 8 passenger seats) transport passengers on request via smartphone or telephone between a large number of predefined stops. The offer is not subject to a timetable or a fixed route. Only an operating area, an operating period and predefined breakpoints define the offer. The approval is given by the city of Leipzig as rental car traffic (§49 PBefG). The routes that the vehicles used have to follow are computer-controlled so that all travel requests are carried out as efficiently as possible. The ridepooling system is provided by the client.
