Renovation (demolition of existing roof structures, new slope insulation, sealing, drainage, skylights) of the flat roofs of the technical floor and the roofs above the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors as part of the fire protection and energy upgrading as well as the conversion and renovation of all floors of the main building, which is located in The Maximilian Kolbe School in Neunkirchen-Wiebelskirchen is sponsored by the Diocese of Trier. The renovation of the flat roofs will be carried out in 2 construction phases. The work takes place during the individual construction phases, with the exception of school holidays, during ongoing school operations.
The Maximilian Kolbe School was built in the years around 1975 as a reinforced concrete/skeleton construction (TT beam ceilings on the ground floor and upper floors) or reinforced concrete/masonry construction (basement) with non-load-bearing system partitions (so-called “mechel walls”) as interior walls and a curtain-mounted mullion-beam facade. The building has 5 floors (UG-3rd floor) and one technical floor. Due to age, there are deficits in the building in terms of building services, fire protection, energy balance, etc., which are to be remedied in the course of the renovation.
The flat roof work takes place in the 2nd and 3rd construction phases as part of the overall renovation project, which consists of a total of 3 construction phases.
In the 2nd construction phase, the flat roofs of the technical floor and the 3rd and 2nd floors will be renovated.
In the 3rd phase of construction, the roof above the 1st floor will be renovated.
In detail, the 2nd construction phase involves the dismantling of the existing roof structures (gravel filling, waterproofing, insulation) on the flat roofs of the technical floor and the 3rd upper floor (approx. 750 m²), the dismantling of the existing green roof construction on the 2nd floor (approx. 350 m²), the demolition of existing skylights/RWA- skylights (approx. 18), the rebuilding of the above flat roofs with vapor barrier, ground and slope insulation, 2-layer bituminous waterproofing (approx. 1115 m²), approx. 220 m attic covers, approx. 10 roof drains, approx. 17 emergency drains, the installation of 19 new skylights/RWA light domes and the installation of approx. 120 m downpipes.
The 3rd construction phase involves the dismantling of the existing roof structures (gravel filling, waterproofing, insulation) on the flat roofs of the 1st floor (approx. 250 m²), the reconstruction of the above-mentioned flat roof with vapor barrier, ground and slope insulation, 2-layer bituminous waterproofing (approx. 250 m²), approx. 55 m attic covers, approx. 3 pieces roof drains, approx. 3 emergency drains, as well as the installation of approx. 24 m down pipes.
