Norsk jernbaneplan (NJP) (The Norwegian Railway Plan] which is managed by the Norwegian Parliament gives limits for the further development of the railway network. Increasing the railway capacity on the Ofot line (Ofotbanen) is prioritised and, and as part of this the construction of an entirely new passing loop at Djupvik station, along the line from Narvik — Bjørnfjell (Border to Sweden) is assumed.
This project comprises engineering design with preparation of detail plan, construction plan and tender documentation for a new passing loop at Djupvik station, as well as following up in the construction period. In the Norwegian Parliament's NJP — it is assumed that the project shall be executed within the planning period. The project's tempo of execution /progress will be dependent on the financing and the annual grants.
The engineering design shall be carried out in accordance with the attached progress plan (see Annex 1, Progress plan).
Consultant Contract R01 comprises the following works: Ground works (blasting, filling, cutting, tunnel, site roads/operational roads, ditches, managing surface water etc.), other works with substructure, and also superstructure, KL, low voltage electrical and tele.
NB! Signal installation is designed by Jernbaneverket (The Norwegian National Rail Administration)
It is assumed the project will be executed in phases and that in the transition between the phases, controls will be carried out and decisions made about continuation in the next phase. Basically, it is being set up for continual execution, but subject to financing/grants.
The phases are:
1. Detail plan/zoning plan.
2. Land acquisition (carried out parallel to the detail plan and construction plan).
3. Construction plan.
4. Contracting of contractors.
5. Production.
6. Hand over.
