The state of Lower Saxony intends to set up a chemistry campus for the purposes of the Clausthal University of Technology, which in future will bundle all associated institutes at one location. The institutes for organic, physical and technical chemistry are currently located on the existing campus in building 1800. The building is part of an ensemble of several buildings that are connected by corridors. It is immediately adjacent to the chemistry lecture hall (Horst-Luther-Hörsaal, building 1810) and at the back of the lecture hall is the chemical store (building 1830). The Institute for Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry is currently not at the site, so it is now planned to relocate this institute in order to centralize all institutes for chemistry. Accommodation will be in open spaces in building 1800.
As part of the measure, buildings 1800 and 1810 are to be completely gutted and fundamentally renovated. The additional space required is accommodated in a 3-storey extension (building 18xx) for the additional internship areas in inorganic and organic chemistry west of building 1810 with direct structural connection to the other buildings 1810 and 1830. These buildings then form the core of the ´chemistry -Campus´ of the TU Clausthal.
The buildings 1800 and 1810 as well as the construction site for the planned new/extension building (building 18xx) are located along Leibnizstraße in the so-called 'field trench area' of the TU. From there, the main access to the future will take place via a central forecourt. The existing paths and roads must be adapted and extended. For the purpose of the building complex, the existing chemical storage (building 1830) is located on the back, which is only to be connected during the course of the measure.
The total cost of the measure is set at EUR 51 878 000 as an upper limit. This is considered to be fixed and unchangeable. In addition to adhering to the deadlines, the focus must be placed on continuous updating, monitoring and adherence to this requirement.
