The renovation of the vacant school building at Habsburger Straße 14 in Pforzheim is to be carried out in a targeted manner to meet the needs of a new school for children with intellectual disabilities (SBBZ Lernen).

As part of the building renovation, the requirements of school use by the special clientele must be taken into account.

The building has significant defects, which have led to the expiry of the building permit.

A renovation must combine the requirements of the specific space program with the necessary measures to ensure stability, fire protection and building physics. In addition, high demands must be placed on the economically sensible energetic optimisation of the building envelope and building services.

The entire school building with its outdoor facilities is to be replanned, optimized and fixed in a permit plan. The entire remediation process must be documented.

The procedure is structured in two stages.

In the participation competition, the application with basic structure and reference(s) is requested to select the suitable bidders. In the subsequent negotiation procedure, suitability and performance are determined on the basis of the office presentation, the presentation of the project outline and a completed project.
