The European Commission's Directorate-General for Energy, in particular the health protection sector of the Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Unit, is responsible for the radiation protection of staff members. The assessment programme foresees radiotoxicological analyses of up to 400 urine samples and up to 50 faeces samples per year. This call for tender, launched by the health protection sector of the Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Unit of the European Commission Directorate-General for Energy, invites analytical laboratories, institutes or research centres to submit offers for the radiotoxicological analyses of bioassay samples.



This call for tender, launched by the health protection sector of the Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Unit of the European Commission Directorate-General for Energy, invites analytical laboratories, institutes or research centres to submit offers for the radiotoxicological analyses of bioassay samples. The analyses should determine the concentration of radioactive actinides and of tritium, as described in Section 3.4 of the tender specifications. In cases where an intake of a significant amount of 1 or more radioactive substances is identified the contractor shall estimate the 50-year committed effective dose. To assist with these calculations, the medical service of the Directorate-General for Human Resources and Security or the health protection sector of the Directorate-General for Energy will deliver additional information on the exposed worker(s) concerned as required.
