Construction logistics for the new development of the school center Gerthe, Heinrichstraße 2 in Bochum.
The city of Bochum is planning to rehabilitate and replace the new building of the Gerthe school centre in northeast Bochum, in need of renovation. The pollutant-polluted building complex was built from 1976 to 1978. In an architectural competition, the design of an architecture firm in Essen was selected, which envisages an elongated building bar along Heinrichstraße. It will house the two schools, the Heinrich von Kleist grammar school, the Anne Frank secondary school, the innovation center for school and technology, and the Gerthe district library on four full floors.
The new building is being built in the immediate vicinity of the existing building. Therefore, a small section of the existing building must be dismantled in advance. Before moving to the new building, part of the future schoolyard must already be completed. After the move, it is important to dismantle the existing building in several stages and gradually create the remaining schoolyard areas on the resulting open spaces.
The maintenance of school operations and the provision of sufficient space for the construction site, delivery and school operations must be ensured at all times by the responsible planners.
A total of EUR 100 million gross will be made available for the entire construction project by 2027. The construction project is accompanied by an external project controller over the entire period, and the reconstruction and renovation measures take place during ongoing school operations.
