Design and Implement a paperless software for Pharmacy Department.
The aseptic services department at GSTFT has the strategic aim to move towards a paperless compounding solution for the preparation of chemotherapy and centralised intravenous additive (CIVAS) products.
Benefits of this project are:
1. Improved patient safety in the preparation of highly toxic drugs through reduction in errors associated with failure of human checking by utilising electronic checking solutions — i.e. bar code, blind batch number entry, photo ID, weight checks;
2. Improved patient safety through reduction in errors associated with transcription between Mosaiq / EPMA and solution;
3. Improved productivity as staff time not required to print, collate and check paper worksheets;
4. Reduced wastage through reduction in expired stock by ensuring material expiring earliest is used 1
5. Reduced costs associated with printing paper worksheets;
6. Improved patient experience and waiting times through increased turn around time of preparation;
7. Reduced archive costs and improved access to archived data;
8. Improved process tracking and audit as each stage of the production process can be date / time stamped.
