Dismantling and preparation for transport of large and heavy-duty objects and fixtures made of various materials (wood, stone, metal, etc.)

The Museum of Hamburg History (MHG), which belongs to the Hamburg Historical Museums Foundation (SHMH), is one of the largest urban history museums in Germany. The museum's collections, which have grown over more than a century, include cultural-historical objects, paintings, graphics, models, furniture, textiles and coins. A special feature are historical testimonies and relics of Hamburg's building and living culture, which have been used as spolia in and around the house.

The MHG will be extensively renovated and modernized in the coming years. Due to this upcoming measure, the exhibition areas and the museum will have to be largely cleared by mid-2024. For this purpose, the objects have to be dismantled, packed and transported to external locations in the Hamburg area. Small and medium-sized objects are prepared for transport by the client. The services described here relate to the dismantling and preparation for transport of large and heavy-duty objects as well as installations (Lot 1) and the dismantling and transport preparation of spolia (Lot 2).

The objects to be processed are extremely sensitive and irreplaceable art and cultural assets from the MHG collection. Accordingly, a respectful and prudent handling of the objects is expected.

In detail, the following services are to be fulfilled:

- Cleaning (dry cleaning) and, if necessary, securing areas at risk of loss;

- removal or dismantling;

- marking of components;

- protection of components (pre-packaging);

- Temporary storage in the museum building.

- Photographic recordings, short documentation by object.
