The new building of the HRZ data center on the Hönggerberg campus houses communication, storage and server systems of the IT Services and the departments. The net output of the system rooms is around 900 kW. The hybrid construction (supporting structure in wood, façade and basement in concrete) and the column-free server rooms allow the greatest possible flexibility in the placement of the servers. A pipeline channel provides access to the HRZ. The 5-storey building has a building volume of approx. 24,000 m3. The floor areas amount to around 4,500 m2. The server rooms are cooled by means of adiabatic air-to-air heat exchangers. The HRZ will be developed redundantly. Construction will take place during ongoing campus operations. Special requirements relating to construction emissions and construction site traffic must be taken into account. As far as possible, materialization is based on ecological criteria. The construction site is located in an inventoried environment.
