The Ministry of Justice and Public Security has commissioned the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration [Utlendingsdirektoratet (UDI)] and the Norwegian Police Directorate [Politidirektoratet (POD)] to evaluate how the National Arrival Centre and the arrival and asylum process have functioned in a situation with extraordinary arrivals. The assignment letter is attached.
The assignment letter states that "The purpose of the evaluation is to concretise learning points, both positive and negative, that make us better equipped to handle any new extraordinary arrival situations, as well as learning points that improve processes and interactions in more normal situations. The final report must be presented by the end of 2023. An overview of preliminary findings will be available by the end of October 2023. The findings can be used in the work concerning the award letters (UDI and POD) for 2024 and the budget process for 2025.
The POD, including the Norwegian Police Immigration Service (PU), and UDI cooperate on the design of the assignment and follow-up, which is coordinated by UDI.
