In the course of a planned flat roof renovation of the aircraft maintenance building Hangar 4, at Munich Airport, Maintenance Allee, FMG intends to dismantle or remove the partly dilapidated F90 fire protection cladding of the steel structure of the hall structure made of cementitious calcium silicate fire protection panels of the Thermax brand as well as the double-layer fall protection nets of the hall structure stretched underneath. According to the budget, the construction project is to be carried out in spring 2024.
The hall roof of Hangar 4 has a rectangular floor plan and an area of approx. 13,0000 m². The flat roof has an approximate height above ground of approx. 32m.
The roof area is divided in the southern area by an approx. 153m long, continuous light strip. In the southern area of the continuous line is the maintenance corridor.
The scope of the renovation includes the steel structure of the hall structure, mainly in the area of the trusses, the roof support structure as well as individual columns and bracing structures.
The roof structure of the hall was made of steel and correspondingly encased in F90 fire protection cladding. The trapezoidal sheet metal of the flat roof rests on the purlins of the secondary trusses. The roof structure consists of gate trusses, with a height of approx. 22-37.5m; Main trusses, with a height of approx. 25-32m, purlins, with a height of approx. 32m and the façade diagonals, with a height of approx. 0-37.5m.
The fall protection nets, which were installed to protect the detaching plates, are located below the lower chords, between the main trusses. The nets are double-layered and fastened with carrying cords.
The building is located in the security area of the airport, and is currently used by an airline as a maintenance hangar for regular maintenance and repair of aircraft. During the construction period, the airline will clear the hall so that the work can be carried out undisturbed. The surrounding buildings, including the adjacent office extensions, are in regular operation, in some cases around the clock. There is operational traffic on the roads around the building. To the south of the hall is the apron.
The construction project will include the following services:
- Construction site equipment, preparatory protective measures
- Complete dismantling of the F90 fire protection cladding
- Complete dismantling of the guyed safety nets
- Cleaning work on the hall supporting structure
The aim of the measure is the complete dismantling of the F90 fire protection cladding and the removal of the safety nets on the steel structure of the hall structure.
