The University of York is looking to enhance the research facilities available by acquiring a macromolecular X-ray diffraction two-dimensional detector for the recording of diffraction patterns from crystalline samples, a single crystal goniometer with viewing attachment for sample alignment, safety interlocks, control computers with associated software, and any necessary peripherals.
The system is to be sited within the York Structural Biology Laboratory (YSBL) with the purpose of supporting crystallography work undertaken by YSBL and its national and international collaborators.
This contract is for the supply and install of the equipment and the provision of a service/maintenance contract for the following years. The length of contract is envisaged to be five years but this may vary, depending on the options provided by the tenderers.
It is envisaged that a contract for the above will be awarded in January 2014 and the chosen solution fully installed and commissioned by end of March 2014 at the latest.
