Larne Borough Council intends to procure contractors with integrated supply chains for the design and re-construction of the Gobbins coastal path. The Contract is located on the site of an existing coastal path in the vicinity of Ballystrudder which lies in the southern reaches of Islandmagee, Northern Ireland. This Contract estimated at £2,500,000 will form one part of the overall project, which will include the construction of a visitor centre that will be procured separately. The path to be reconstructed was originally opened to the public in 1902 with 1200m of paths along the base of the Gobbins Cliffs. The path was officially closed to the public in 1954 and is in a state of disrepair with parts of the original path and most of the metal structures missing or collapsed because of rock falls and slides, sea erosion and rust.
