SURFnet wishes to contract 1 or 2 Logistic Partner(s) (1 for each lot or 1 for both lots) for 4 (four) years to provide and support network equipment and software, compatible with SURFnet's existing network equipment. SURFnet aims to contract parties such as equipment manufacturers or their channel partners who — together with SURFnet — can maintain the state of the art network for Research and Education in the Netherlands with the high levels of quality that are expected by SURFnet's users.

The Contractor that results from this procedure will be responsible for:

1. Delivering network equipment and software for the ongoing extension of the current network. The network currently contains Ciena and Juniper equipment and software.

2. Supporting network equipment and software: the support will involve 3rd line maintenance and support for the Tendered Network containing Ciena and Juniper equipment and software in which the role and backing of these vendors is crucial, and any new equipment and software delivered as part of the activity under 1).
