In order to be able to identify developments in political attitudes in the population, the status of democracy and particular threats to democracy, the Saxon State Government commissioned a "Saxony Monitor" in 2016 and in the following years 2017 and 2018. The "Saxony Monitor" was based on a current representative population survey in Saxony, which consisted of a trend section with continuously surveyed questions and a special section with current topics. In order to keep track of long-term trends and to be able to identify attitudes to current issues, the Sachsen-Monitor should be continued and, depending on the situation, supplemented by additional surveys that are independent of the Sachsen-Monitor.

The framework agreement begins with the signature and runs until December 31, 2021. If the cooperation proves itself during this period, it can be extended to December 31, 2024.
