During the renewal of Kong Oscars street between Vetrlidsallmenningen and Nygaten, work shall be undertaken to excavate the existing superstructure. The matter shall be replaced with a light filling and an infiltration system shall be established for surface water. New pipes and manholes for the boss network, water and surface water as well as cables for electricity and broad band shall be laid below the street. The street shall be reinstated with a stone cover as a ‘shared space’, where traffic groups are integrated and taken care of in the same area. The existing stone cover shall be reused.

Due to the risk of uncovering cultural layers that are worthy of protection during the excavation, the work will be followed-up by Riksantikvaren/NIKU. Sub deadlines will be set for the different main phases as well as restrictions on how the project can be carried out.

The works consist of:

— Excavation and fill replacement of superstructure;

— Ditching for pipes and cables;

— Establishment of an infiltration system with betonite walls for surface water;

— Laying granite slabs, cobblestones, kerbstones and slate;

— Assembly of lighting and signage.
