The main objective of the project is the renovation and expansion of the House of Recreation in connection with the surrounding open spaces. The client sees this as a closely interlinked, interdisciplinary planning task of the planning disciplines of urban planning, architecture, interior design, open space design and building services. Against this background, in addition to the classic tasks of building planning, urban development and energy planning approaches in particular should also lead to an overall solution. Solutions for stationary traffic, energy supply and sustainable management are central concerns of the project.
In the course of its activities to raise the profile of the tourism location, the municipality of Ostseebad Heringsdorf intends to renovate and expand the former "House of Recreation". It is a two-storey building that was built in the 50s. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the house was used for recreation in a different way, such as recreation. Cinema and carnival events, fed and closed from the year 2000. Since the 2000s, the municipality of Ostseebad Heringsdorf has been making intensive efforts to reuse it and has developed and tested various scenarios as part of this process. Due to the years of vacancy, the condition of the building has deteriorated significantly. A southern adjoining side wing of the Kulturhaus had to be demolished due to irreparable damage in 2022. Within the political committees, a decision has now been made on the renovation and expansion of the building in connection with future sponsorship by the municipality. It is intended to be used as a concert and event building, which will then be operated by the municipality of Ostseebad Heringsdorf.
The planning task includes a renovation and expansion concept for the building. In this context, statements on the uses of the individual rooms as well as on the materialities are also required. The building is to be supplemented by a single-storey extension. The building corresponds very closely with the surrounding open spaces. Here it is important to connect the entrance areas to the surroundings and to create a link between the interior of the building and the exterior. Therefore, the planning task is not limited to the building, but also considers
the adjacent open spaces and their rearrangement for the functioning of the House of Recreation. This context also requires statements on the number, location and structural design of the parking spaces.
The dialogue process is intended to provide a plan that enables a sustainable renovation and expansion of the House of Recreation with the inclusion of the outdoor facilities.
As part of this procedure, the following services must be provided:
-A utilisation concept including a space programme
-Statements on the design of the façade of both the main building and the extension

-Statements on building services
