Renewal of the existing backup environment and software, as the new requirements cannot be partially covered with the old solution and the restore times in the old environment are too long.
For over 50 years, ekom21 has been processing data on behalf of the Hessian municipalities and other customers. As part of this data processing, it is essential to protect the data using a backup and recovery concept. In recent years, these backups have been made using IBM Spectrum Protect software.
The infrastructure consists of 2 data backup servers as a central administration instance and 2 redundant storage systems in which the data is stored.
The primary backup server and the primary storage are located in Kassel. The complete configuration and the database of all backups will be replicated to the local server and storage after Gießen. This should also be implemented in the future solution in order to continue to guarantee geo-redundancy of the backup data. It should be noted here that there are 2 independent areas (internal data center and DMZ) that should be included in the backup solution.
