Description:
Test facility for the reaction engineering investigation of ammonia synthesis and gas chromatography

Delivery, installation, installation and instruction of a test facility for the reaction engineering investigation of ammonia synthesis and delivery, installation, installation and instruction of a gas chromatograph

Pilot plant

The device includes two independent fixed-bed reactors, which are equipped with separate gas dosing ranges and can be operated continuously at approx. 500 °C and 80 bar. For this purpose, the composition of the gas supply, as well as the operating pressure and the operating temperature of each individual reactor can be set independently. The reactor circuit allows the serial as well as the parallel and individual operation of both reactors and contains bypass lines for both reactors. Switching between the two gas dosing strings is possible in order to change the gas inflow of a reactor preferably by leap (< 1 s). A reciprocal, jump-shaped switching between the two parallel reactors is desirable. Each reactor is filled with solid catalyst samples.

In a typical experiment, about 2 g (or about 2 mL) of catalysts are filled into each reactor and contacted at up to 500 °C and 80 bar with a continuous gas flow of N2, H2 and noble gases. This forms NH3, which flows out of the reactor together with the inert gases and the remains of the reactants. Samples are regularly taken from the escaping gas stream for quantitative online analysis by means of a gas chromatograph (Lot 2).

gas chromatograph

The gas chromatograph is to be used for the quantitative analysis of gas compositions and connected via a heated supply line to the main device (ammonia synthesis test facility, lot 1). A sample should be taken from a continuous gas flow at regular intervals in a suitable manner and analyzed by gas chromatography. The device must be suitable for the described measuring task and resistant to ammonia. The calibration of the gas chromatograph shall be possible on the basis of calibration gases, preferably on a separate calibration port.
