Steel construction work for the renovation of the pre-coolers UNESCO World Heritage Zollverein
The pre-cooler built between 1958 and 1961 in the northern area of the Zollverein coking plant
was used to purify the raw gas from tar and water by cooling.
The building consists of an approximately five-meter-high, single-storey base component in solid construction
and eight cooling towers, about 29 meters high, along with additional components such as pipelines, stairs, ladders and walkways.
On the narrow-sided outer walls in the east and west, the roof of the base building is connected via steel stairs
to reach. The cooling towers are mounted on the eight reinforced concrete bases. Center between two from
each of the groups consisting of four cooling towers, there is a stair tower made of profiled steel with steps and platforms
made of galvanized gratings, over which a walkway and suspended platforms in the upper area of the
Towers can be reached.
The industrial monument is now to be renovated.
