L821 is a regional road connection in the northeastern Ruhr area. In the urban area of Bergkamen, the L821 fulfils several important functions. In order to relieve the congestion in the centre of Bergkamen-Oberaden, a bypass road (L821n) is being built east of the district. The new construction project has a total length of 1.85 km. It stretches between the L654 and the K16. The intersections L654/L821 and L821/K16 will be converted into roundabouts as part of the construction project. The L821n/Pantenweg intersection will be designed as a right-of-way-controlled junction with a connection to motor vehicle traffic to the west. The construction project also includes the construction of a combined pedestrian and cycle path along the north
