The objective is to establish a methodology to gather, generate, collect and analyse data, in order to understand the different financing options available and finally chosen by a sample of non-financial corporations. The methodology should present an appropriate benchmark against which to compare the success cases and stories of firms that have developed a portfolio of non-bank financing, whilst bearing in mind different firm characteristics. Finally, the exercise should help towards establishing interactions between bank and non-bank sources of financing to understand the impact the crisis has had on the sources of financing in Europe, particularly non-bank financing. This will serve as valuable input for several pieces of financial policymaking (e.g. stress tests) and legislation.
