The northern harbor island lies northeast of the old town of Stralsund and forms for the city the transition to the sound. Like a sort of Sund terrace, the artificially heaped up island in front of the old town lies with a free, completely unobstructed view of the vastness and the sound.
The Hanseatic city of Stralsund plans to redesign the open spaces on the northern harbor island and to refurbish the banks. In this context, soundings to determine the freedom of ordnance for ground investigation on the open space and in the area of the bank edges water side necessary. At the same time sounding for the determination of the explosive load shall be carried out on the water side for planned construction of the entire bank edge fastening.
It is planned to complete these investigations by the end of March 2020.
Construction is expected to start in the autumn of 2020 in phases over several years.
Scope of services Sounding for the subsoil investigation:
- on the land side for each planned drill hole of the subsoil investigations, 3 soundings each,
- Waterborne surface probing, which should simultaneously serve as clearance of the water boreholes for the subsoil investigation (see site plan).

The waterside probing will be subdivided into two-row and four-row probing depending on the construction work planned.
The type and length of the required soundings are shown in the site plan of the combat soundings and in the determination of the respective lengths.
