The aspiration of the College is to commence with the building works during the College's none teaching periods that being during Summer 2023.
The College has been growing in student numbers for a number of years, with significant growth in the last two years seeing the existing facilities nearing capacity. With particular growth in local priority areas of engineering, advanced manufacturing, healthcare and construction, as well as general growth in higher level qualifications through A-Levels and Degrees, the College is planning to expand its facilities to meet the increased demand.
The College have carried out an evaluation to explore future development opportunities, including dialogue with the Local Authority, to ensure that any future development is structured to develop a campus strategy that will deliver an excellent learning environment that responds to the site and its context, the ability to expand the College, and potentially connect with the town centre and increasingly engage with the wider community.
To meet this vision, the project proposes the construction of three new floors added vertically to the existing single storey building. The existing storey accommodation generally contains teaching rooms, a library, and breakout spaces. The proposed new extended accommodation will generally comprise of new additional teaching spaces, as well as additional breakout areas, storage facilitates, and a new server room.
