Provision of a web application for monitoring production sites relevant to the raw material market
The subject of this contract is the provision of a web application for the monitoring of production sites relevant to the raw material market in accordance with the specifications for the German Mineral Resources Agency (DERA) in the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR).
DERA in the BGR informs and advises the German economy, politics and society on questions of raw material supply and current market developments as well as on the sustainable extraction and use of raw materials. With its raw materials monitoring, DERA acts as a central information platform and is a transfer point for raw materials management information and analyses.
The German economy is extremely dependent on imports of raw materials and semi-finished products. A continuous and secure supply of raw materials is essential, especially for the restructuring of our energy systems, the digitization of the economy and the rapid expansion of electromobility as well as other future technologies. Numerous raw materials and intermediate products that are potentially critical for the German economy are produced in only a few countries and by a few mining companies, refineries and processors. The dependence of German industry on these supplier countries and suppliers is extremely high. In addition, raw material production, processing, trade and recycling are subject to a wide range of risks, so that production downtimes, delivery delays and price explosions can jeopardize the supply of raw materials. In addition, there is a risk of environmental, social and image damage.
DERA strives to further develop its commodity monitoring and to provide faster information about relevant events on the commodity markets. In order to identify, analyze and evaluate risks in the supply of raw materials at an early stage, real-time risk monitoring using big data is to be established and expanded in the DERA ("Big Data Analytics Center"). It should be possible to record production interruptions and failures at relevant locations due to events such as insolvencies, accidents, force majeure but also strikes, epidemics, natural and environmental disasters that affect individual raw material markets at an early stage. To do this, DERA needs an application that can reliably provide such information.
